Kaden's Birthday Sleepover 7-27-11

This is Kaden. He is one of my grandsons! He just turned 4, and that means a sleepover with Grandma and Grandpa. We did many fun things. Grandpa set up the croquet game in the backyard. So we played croquet/golf. Of course Kaden won.
The next day I took him to the Rexburg Splash Park.
He had such a great time. He actually looks like he is making the water do this. Then it was time for a picnic. He even helped me pack our lunch. He is such a good helper these days.
He just had to go play on the toys at the park too. Porter Park has made some great improvements. When we came home we made cupcakes and Kaden helped me frost them. Then we took them to his Daddy (Tyson) at work, because it was Tyson's birthday.
When he needed a snack he just had to have a bowl of popcorn. We had such a great time together. I just love the sleepovers with my grandkids!

Garden update 7-21-11

Just look at our garden! It is coming along very nicely. I told Clinton that I would weed the garden, but he won't let me. He seems to really enjoy doing it. Who ever thought vegetables could be so exciting!?Farmer Clinton taking care of his crops.
We picked the cauliflower tonight. It tasted really good dipped in Chiz' ranch dressing.
We have two heads of broccoli coming.
This green leaf lettuce is going crazy! I can't keep up with it. I picked 9 bags last night and shared with our neighbors.
I can't wait for the red potatoes to be ready. Nothing better than new peas and potatoes!
The peas, beets and carrots are looking good. I can't wait to bottle pickled beets.
Just look at the beans and onions, Wow!
We have two zucchini plants.
The read leaf lettuce is almost ready to pick
This is one of Brock and Carrie's spaghetti squash plants, they are going crazy too! There are two.
I'm excited for the acorn squash. I wonder how many we will get? I have been wanting a garden for so long, I am thrilled with how well it is doing. I can't wait for the harvest!

A Visit to Utah 7-19,20 2011

I made a visit to Utah this week. Brock arranged a surprise birthday party at As You Wish Pottery for his wife Carrie. It was fun to go there and celebrate with Carrie and paint some salt and pepper shakers. It was fun to see what everyone else did. Afterward we had dinner at Red Robin. I stayed at the Country Inn & Suits in Bountiful. Chelsi stayed with me so I wasn't alone. The next morning Chelsi and I met my niece, Ashley, at the Gateway. We had a day of shopping ahead of us. Of course the Gateway was the perfect place to start. For lunch, Ashley wanted to try a new restaurant. It is called the Blue Lemon. It is located just across the Plaza from Deseret Book in downtown Salt Lake City. Brock met us there. Brock took this picture at the Blue Lemon. That is me, Chelsi and Ashley. This was a great pick. The food was different and very good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. After lunch we went to the French Bakery in the Grand America Hotel. Wow! This was a fun place to visit. The cupcakes were good too. We continued our shopping at a place called Gygi. It is a kitchen supply place. It has the cutest cupcake papers, along with many other treasures. Our final shopping stop was the Fashion Place Mall. What can I say, that is just a great place to shop. For dinner, we met Kathryn and Kirk at the Cheesecake Factory. I just had a great time hanging out with my family. Ashley's husband, Jordan, Hailey and Hannah were there too.
Later Chelsi and I went to Brock and Carrie's and played "Bang". I am still learning the game, but it is alot of fun to play. Then Chelsi and I went back to the hotel and watched the movie "Ratatouille" I had never seen it before. It was a cute show.

Thursday morning Chelsi and I went back to the Gateway to check out one last shop, Antropology. Jackpot! I found some really cute shirts on sale! This was a great trip. Spending time with family, eating good food and shopping.

29th Wedding Anniversary July 16 -18, 2011

On July 17th, 2011 we celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary. We took off for the weekend. Our first stop was Dell, Montana. This is the restaurant we ate at. It used to be a school. It was built in 1897. They served the best blueberry, sour cream pie with crumb topping! Delicious! Our second stop was Virginia City.
This place is full of history. We are standing in front of one of the old buildings there. This was a fun place to visit and the homemade ice cream was awesome! Our third stop was Camp Albin.
We met Tyson and Courtnie at the cabin. Then we went to dinner in Shotgun at a place called Boondocks. Yummy! The rest of the time at the cabin we played cards, ping pong, paddle boating, going to church, and just sitting out on the back deck and visiting. On Monday after we cleaned the cabin and had breakfast, we came back to reality. We finally went to the Harry Potter movie. It is just as good as the others. We had a great weekend celebrating this milestone in our lives.

Horse Ride July 7, 2011

Now here is a sight you don't see very often. Yes, that is me on a horse called Lady. I may go once, maybe twice in a year. It is a fear of mine, but when the ride is over I am glad I went. Clinton and I had a fun day with Mike, Susan, Sean, Ethan, Ellie and Sarah. Clinton took us on a ride that was beautiful. We even went up to the tippy-top of a mountain where everywhere you looked was down. A rare sight.

4th of July/Family Reunion - 2011

I just love the 4th of July! I love the patriotic songs, the parade, the flag and how we stand and put our hands over our hearts in allegiance to our country. I feel so blessed to live in this land of the free. I am also thankful for those who fight for our freedom. I love America!I just love this picture of our flag at the parade in Idaho Falls.
This year our Barrett Family Reunion is on the 4th of July. Susan made these cute pins for us to wear and be patriotic.
We started off in Idaho Falls at the Parade. Clinton and I were there with Jimmy & Stacey's family and Mike and Susan's family. We watched the parade in front of Bruce & Debbie Nyborg's house.
After the parade we went to this little park area by a dentist office on the way to the airport. We had a picnic lunch there. Here is a picture of me, my sisters and Mom. (L to R) Kathryn Egbert, Rochelle Arnold, Phylus Barrett, Janet Mollat and Susan Fitzgerald.
We had lots of activities to keep us entertained and busy. Hailey and Chelsi showed us the finer points of leg wrestling.

The game the guys were waiting for. Tyson, Clinton and Brock and the rest of the gang had a great time living out their "high school" dreams playing football.

Tyson grilling some good hamburgers for dinner. We had such a great day with our family at the reunion. The main event was yet to come. We all stayed for the big fireworks show after dark. It was awesome as usual with the music that went along with it. What a great day to combine 4th of July with the reunion. Stacey went to alot of work to make a great reunion!
