Payton is a fighter. 5-22-12

This is my grandson, Payton. He is 4 1/2 month old.   He is in the Primary Children's Hospital with Botulism.  He is the son of Brock and Carrie.  He got this by breathing in dirt that had Botulism spores in it.  It damaged his nerves and detached them.  24 hours after he was diagnosed he received a serum that stopped the Botulism from doing any more damage.  His body is now working to fix the damaged nerves and reattach them.  This will be a slow process.  He will be in the hospital for 6 to 8 weeks. They say that when he is better he will be just fine with no lasting negative effects.  I have come to realize just how amazing our bodies really are.  What a blessing are body is.
Since they gave him the serum, he has been able to open his eyes,  they took the catheter out, he has been able to lift his arm almost to his mouth and he tried to smile at his Mom.  It is nice to see he is making progress, even though it is slow. There are so many blessings that Heavenly Father is giving to our family.  There are still things we need to learn through this trial, especially that we need to align our will with his and to be patient with the timing of things. I am grateful for the gospel and the peace that it brings.

Election Day 5-13-12

I did something new this year.  I got to help at a polling location for the Primary Elections.  I t was very interesting to see the behind the scenes of voting.
I worked with some wonderful ladies today.  Nikki Andreasen, Stephanie Izatt, Jody Andreasen and Michelle Parkinson.  It was a long day, but time really flew by.  I enjoyed being a helper.  Our polling location was in the lobby of the Central Park Apartments (formerly the Cotton Tree Inn) by Frontier Pies.

Mother's Day 5-13-12

I  had a great Mother's Day this year.  It is a blessing to have such a thoughtful family who remembers me on special occasions.
Clinton bought me this beautiful Temple picture.
My boys and their families sent me these lovely cards.  Chelsi even sent me a message on FB from Europe.
I have to say that the card Tyson sent me has had me chuckling for quite some time.

Brock's Birthday/Mother's Day May 12 & 13, 2012

Another fun weekend in Utah!  We celebrated Brock's 27th birthday.  He picked PF Chang's to have his birthday dinner.
The beginning of the lettuce wraps.  Yummy!
The birthday  "boy" with Carrie and Payton at PF Changs.
Is this just the cutest picture!  I love it now that he smiles and laughs when you talk to him.
Clinton bought one of these for me and Carrie for Mother's Day.
Fun family picture.

Baby Shower for Lila 5-10-12

Meet Lila Kate Furness.  She is my 1st great niece on my side of the family.  She is my Mom's 10th great-grandchild.  We are out to my sister, Kathryn's, for the shower.  My niece, Ashley is the proud Mom!
What a little cutie!
This was my first time to meet Lila.  I just love all the new little one's coming into our family!

Civic Club 5-7-12

We are being installed as the new officers for the Rexburg Civic Club.
Lee Leifgran, the State President, came to do the installation.  Julie Fergusen is the 1st Vice President.  Susan Landon is the President, I am the 2nd Vice President, Judy Heindle is the Secretary and Linda Flamm is the Treasurer ( she is not shown).  I am glad to be back in the Civic club.  I like what they do by giving service to our community.  I enjoy the ladies and am excited to get to know these ladies better over the next two years.

Diamond Rio Concert 5-4-12

We are so lucky!  Jimmy & Stacey invited us to go to the Diamond Rio Concert at BYU-I.
We are on the 2nd row in the middle in the Hart Gymnasium.  We couldn't have asked for better seats!
Just listening to all their music really took me back to my teenage years.  It was a great concert!

Uncle Dee's Funeral 4-28-12

We attended my Uncle Dee's funeral.  He was married to my Aunt Saundra.  She is my Mom's sister.  He passed away from Pancreatic Cancer.  The good thing about funerals is that you get family together.  I got a picture of my Mom and her siblings.  We are at the cemetery in Rigby, where Uncle Dee is buried.
